VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Oct. 9, 2018 – The new Jarrett Bay 90 – widely acclaimed as the most advanced high-tech, high-speed sportfishing yacht ever built – is using Humphree interceptors for automatic trim and list control.

The 90-ft. Jaruco is equipped with three Humphree transom-mounted interceptors – two HA600 models on the port and starboard sides and a custom-shaped H945 model on the centerline.

The electric-powered Humphree system automatically adjusts the vessel’s trim to achieve the highest speed and lowest fuel consumption, and provides automatic correction of boat listing caused by winds or uneven loading.

“With automatic trim, the boat accelerates out of the hole and up on plane faster, flatter and with far less fuel burn,” said Sean Berrie, CEO of Humphree USA. “Typically, we see 15 to 25 percent savings in fuel during the transition to plane and 5 to 10 percent at cruising speeds.”

“To say that Jaruco pushes the engineering envelopes of speed, performance and safety is a monumental understatement,” said Randy Ramsey, Jarrett Bay’s President. “The owner and the engineering team were unrelenting in demanding the best performing sportfishing boat ever built. This boat will forever change the way top-end tournament sportfishing yachts are designed and constructed.”

The boat makes extensive use of state-of-the-art materials, such as carbon fiber and Kevlar to add strength and reduce weight. It’s twin 2,600 hp MTU engines and ZF V-drives with titanium shafts propel the boat at top speeds of 44 knots – all while meeting ABS specifications to withstand eight-foot seas at 50 knots.

“We have installed the Humphree trim and list control systems on several Jarrett Bay boats with excellent results,” said Ramsey. “We have also specified them on our new 67-ft. and 68-ft. boats under construction at our facility.”
